Where we stand in our ongoing AI journey with Module Suite

AI, a term that only a few years ago seemed confined to the realm of science fiction, is now an established part of our daily vocabulary. It currently supports many of our work activities and is poised to become an integral aspect of how we operate.

However, given the generic nature and “one-size-fits-all” approach of these tools, questions often arise about whether AI can truly deliver on its promises of efficiency, speed, and improved work quality.

The key to harnessing the enormous potential of AI lies in successfully tailoring these tools to business contexts, shaping them to meet unique needs, and ultimately enabling specific use cases that can bring real benefits to enterprises.

This is exactly what we at AnswerModules have focused on. For over a year, we have been exploring the world of AI to create a synergy between our Module Suite and AI capabilities, enabling their use within OpenText Extended ECM to implement complex, AI-based use cases scenarios within the platform.

Our journey into the AI realm began by integrating Module Suite with the existing AI industry-leading technologies, maintaining an agnostic approach regarding the specific Large Language Model (LLM) to select or the deployment strategy to adopt.

This integration allowed our clients to experiment with and leverage AI for common use cases, such as:

  • Supporting Technical Teams in the creation of scripts, forms, and more by generating lines of code based on provided information; Code that can then be reviewed, refined, and utilized effectively. Here’s a quick example.

  • Improving User Experience and streamlining business users’ interactions with the platform by enhancing their daily tasks. In this example, from a simple prompt, the AI agent was able to create tailored documents for employees using corporate Word templates, pulling in context-specific details like employee names, manager names, and IDs.

  • Efficient Document Interrogation. Users could also query Module Suite about document content and obtain extracted information from documents on the fly, saving the time and effort otherwise needed for manual work.

Reusable snippets, workflow integration, specialized chatbot UI widgets—these were just the beginning. In recent months, our efforts and studies on AI integration have gone far beyond the “basic” use case of AI conversations between agent and user.

We’ve aimed to create a virtuous cycle where – when paired with Module Suite’s automation capabilities – the use of AI could be extended for broader purposes, becoming an essential part of workflow processes and revolutionizing business process automation. To steal a line from Deep Analysis’s article that mentioned us:

“However, in truth, our interest was triggered by a show floor discussion with OpenText partner AnswerModules, who gave an impromptu demo that showed how this could not only improve the search experience but also create and feed high-quality content back into the system, creating a virtuous AI cycle. It’s a concept we have seen discussed but not practically demonstrated before, so that is certainly something we want to explore further in the coming months.”

Below we illustrate some of the specific AI-based business use cases and scenarios we’ve implemented.

Creating custom notifications in workflows

In a recent article, our CEO Patrick Vitali explained how, after creating an application using Module Suite Application Builder, he customized AI-generated notification messages.

When crafting notification messages in workflows, it’s important to provide comprehensive “executive” information, including the task’s urgency, requirements, and any details that offer users a complete overview at a glance.

By using Module Suite API and our integration with LLM tools, we provided AI with extensive context, including workflow and task details, user information, document metadata, audit trails, and even document revisions.

This enabled the AI to craft highly personalized email messages that understood the workflow’s context, offering insights tailored to specific tasks. The result? A hyper-personalized email notifications that don’t just notify but inform, analyse, and guide users through every step of their business processes.

Controlling Extended ECM search through Natural Language

Simplifying complex searches on Extended ECM and allowing users to query in natural language is another example of virtuous AI-based use case.

By leveraging an existing categorized document repository, the AI effectively translated natural language queries into complex searches based on document attributes.

The benefits are countless: an intuitive, easy-to-use interface that requires no prior training for business users while utilizing existing metadata and search engines, preserving valuable knowledge accumulated over years without compromising on technological advancements.

Create specialized RAGs

The use cases that can be implemented by combining AI capabilities with Module Suite are endless.

As a technology that doesn’t use proprietary language and adopts a low-coding approach, Module Suite makes it extremely easy to instruct and transfer knowledge to LLM tools, simplifying integration with these tools and the ECM platform.

Module Suite enables the creation of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system, mediating the interaction between the Extended ECM platform and LLM tools, enhancing understanding of the context as to elevate the quality of interactions.

Our AI journey began by integrating industry-leading API services and it will continue by integrating OpenText Aviator APIs. Additionally, we are committed to exploring and supporting new AI capabilities: we are already working on text-to-speech and voice-based interactions in forms for accessibility purposes.
